Brick Lane in Art: The other side

This is a portrait of a street and an area - as seen by artists, particularly street artists, and others who live and work or even just visit here. I wanted to shoot a social documentary which would frame the street, its life, and the complex web in which it operates. I wanted to hear the area's "official" stories. And of course the other side of those stories.

Roa's Big Bird on Hanbury Street, Brick Lane, London from Shafiur Rahman on Vimeo.
A bird is a creature of flight. It can symbolise freedom. Belgium artist Roa came to Shoreditch, an inner city area of London, which has been home to waves of immigrants over the years, and painted an astonishing bird in about 8 hours in April of 2010. Six Oranges filmed this feat as part of their documentary on Brick Lane and art. This short film is a teaser for that documentary.
